An open-plan kitchen… open to life: a peninsula that connects the kitchen and dining area
A spacious, light-filled kitchen in Madrid where design, functionality and the warmth of the materials come together to create a space made for cooking, sharing and enjoying.
When design adapts to the way you live, the kitchen becomes the heart of the home. A large peninsula connects the kitchen and dining area in an open-plan space, where functionality, storage capacity and the warmth of the materials coexist with a serene, timeless aesthetic.
Kitchen in a private home
Location: Madrid, Spain
Kitchen and interior design project: Navalmueble
With a proper study of the space, it is possible to integrate into the cabinetry those structural elements that often become an obstacle in rooms. As in this kitchen, where a pillar was integrated into the island, reducing its visual impact and removing it from the walkway.
Glass-front display cabinets add personality to the kitchen. When fitted with interior lighting, they become a striking feature that enhances the kitchen’s interior design.
Warmth and elegance in every detail
The cabinet fronts in stone-coloured matte lacquer create a warm, bright feel, while the interiors in natural olivato ash introduce contrast and add depth to the furniture. The combination is completed by an extra-large worktop that runs along the peninsula and work areas, reinforcing the sense of continuity.
The display cabinets with interior lighting make it possible to showcase tableware and decorative objects, turning storage into another design feature. Small details, such as the black handles, add contrast and character to a composition of clean lines and balanced proportions.
A peninsula kitchen designed to connect spaces
One of the project’s goals was to achieve a functional kitchen without losing the connection to the rest of the home. The U-shaped layout, complemented by a large central peninsula, organises the different work zones and frees up circulation space towards the dining area.
The result is an open, connected atmosphere, where every element has its function without compromising on a carefully considered aesthetic. The kitchen thus becomes a flexible space, ready for everyday life as well as for enjoying shared moments.
Plenty of kitchen storage without compromising on design
One of the project’s standout features is its storage capacity. The large-format cabinetry makes the most of the full available height to provide generous organisation space, while the illuminated display cabinet introduces a lighter, more decorative element that adds warmth to the overall design.
The combination of closed cabinets, glass-front display cabinets, open shelving and interior fittings makes it possible to keep the space tidy without sacrificing a clean, contemporary aesthetic.
Every element of this kitchen has been designed to combine functionality, capacity and design. The peninsula layout, the connection to the dining area and the storage solutions make this project a versatile option for those looking for an open-plan kitchen that’s comfortable and ready to support everyday life.
